If the Maryland GOP had true leadership, there would be a plethora of billboards, TV ads and mailers in Baltimore City, Baltimore, Prince George’s and Montgomery counties pointing out what the Maryland Democrats are doing and in many cases, not doing.
The state legislature just passed the most insulting budget and laws this state has ever seen. All we hear from the GOP is, “There are too few of us to make a difference.” Well then, do something about it already!
My experience with the party apparatus is that they are comfortable with their slim slice of the pie, will not come out of their comfort zone and are fearful that if there’s too much boldness, they will lose their teeny, tiny micro piece of that slender slice.
The central committees are filled with political wannabees who mostly cannot get out of the way of their own ambitions while others are content with being an elected official. You should start cleaning house at the committee-level first — they’re like Obama holdovers.
Baltimore County may never turn ruby red, but most are fed up with the crime and how their county council, hiding behind the faux county executive, are conducting business.
Baltimore City is having buyer’s remorse with Mayor Brandon Scott’s word salad every time there’s a major event. You could convince city residents to vote differently: “Democrats care about they/them, not you or yours.” See how easy that was?
Montgomery County was the first sanctuary jurisdiction in Maryland. Those ads write themselves.
Prince George’s is almost as bad as Baltimore City. People want and need hope!
This state is filled with alternative perspectives, people who truly care about their communities, not the next election, and are willing to serve a term or two on the school board, county council, as a county executive, state representative and yes, Congress. Yet, I do not see any help wanted signs posted anywhere. That’s right, it’s a closed circle.
President Donald Trump won all seven swing states. You should be able to persuade four concentrated areas in Maryland to stop voting for the same kick in the pants every two years. There is no such thing as a perfect candidate, so don’t be so darn picky.
Remember how Larry Hogan tanked Dan Cox’s campaign, all over political pettiness? I don’t recall hearing many, if any, current party members complaining, at least not out loud. Wes Moore glided in with little to no effort. Good job!
It’s not like there’s not enough material to work with, guys. Skyrocketing electric bills, juvenile crime, higher taxes and fees, out-of-control budget, boys in girls’ sports, Maryland is a sanctuary state, MPRP, the list is long and distinguished.
Throw away the ancient playbook, accept that new and more ideas are needed, get past the end of your noses and get on the stick! Don’t wait until the election is months away — you need to start now.
Buy digital billboards and metro ad space that list the outrageous fee increases, the number of carjackings, the number of Marylanders attacked, raped or killed by undocumented immigrants, the number of criminal juveniles released to commit additional crimes.
Attach the name(s) of those legislators who voted for this nonsense —drive their approval ratings down. Associate their names with the pain people are unfortunately feeling. They cannot hide from the harm they have caused.
While the advertising campaign revs up, try cultivating candidates in these four jurisdictions to run for everything from dog catcher to state representative. You must have a Republican candidate for every single Maryland elected position in 2026. The advertising campaign will be worthless if you don’t have an alternative to vote for. Again, don’t be picky.
In the event there are absolutely no Republicans willing to run in an area, explore encouraging a third-party candidate. The career political grip on this state must be loosened.
It’s past time for the Maryland GOP to get up off its lazy behind and do what you were elected to do — get Republicans elected. If we don’t see movement by October, you might see community activists perform your duties.
