Massachusetts first responders pull unconscious man from pond

Local first responders pulled an unconscious man from a pond on Wednesday after he reportedly fell off his kayak.

The Plymouth Emergency Communications Center received multiple 911 calls at around 6:38 a.m. about a man at Long Pond who was struggling in the water.

Plymouth Police were the first to arrive on scene, and officers launched boats to begin searching the area. Brewster Ambulance crews then arrived.

Bystanders helped direct the responders to the spot where the man was last seen.

Officers found the unconscious man about 200 feet from shore. The Plymouth Fire Department then arrived with a rescue boat.

Plymouth Fire and Plymouth Police pulled the man into the boat, and firefighters began administering lifesaving measures, including CPR.

The man regained a pulse, and he was transported by Brewster Ambulance to a local hospital. His condition was unknown.

“We are incredibly grateful for the swift and coordinated efforts of our Plymouth Fire crews, Plymouth Police, and Brewster Ambulance this morning,” Chief Neil Foley said in a statement. “Thanks to that collaboration, we were able to locate and assist the individual in distress and immediately begin lifesaving measures.”
