Manslaughter suspect, 26, arrested in Chinatown

Honolulu police have arrested a 26-year-old man for suspicion of manslaughter after a man who was found unresponsive in Chinatown on Wednesday later died at a hospital.

The 62-year-old man was found in an open parking lot fronting 1188 Maunakea St., according to the Honolulu Police Department.

Police said they initially opened an unattended death case but the investigation found that the victim had reported being assaulted at about 4 a.m. Tuesday near the parking lot.

The 26-year-old man was identified as the suspect, and Crime Reduction Unit officers arrested him Thursday in Chinatown, HPD said.
