Man suspected of burglarizing or vandalizing six Alameda businesses in one morning

ALAMEDA — Police here arrested man suspected of six early morning acts of burglary or vandalism, all targeting local businesses, court records show.

The suspect, a 41-year-old man, was arrested three days after the crime spree and remains jailed, with bail set at $10,000. Police identified him as a suspect in commercial burglaries, window-smashing, or ransacking businesses, and he has been charged with crimes targeting four of the businesses, records show.

On the morning of Jan. 17, he allegedly stole a cash register from one business, $3,000 from a Ku Fu studio, and about $5 worth of chicken from a restaurant. He was also observed on video breaking into another restaurant, and smashing the window of a Salvation Army while yelling expletives, according to court records.

He has pleaded not guilty. Prosecutors say he has three prior burglary convictions since 2021.
