Man struck and killed by MBTA Commuter Rail train in Brockton

A man was struck and killed by an MBTA Commuter Rail train in Brockton on Tuesday, MBTA Transit Police Department Superintendent Richard Sullivan confirmed Wednesday.

The man was hit by the train while trespassing on the right of way at Brockton Station, which is located on the Fall River and New Bedford Line, Sullivan said. He was declared dead at the scene.

Authorities do not suspect foul play in the man’s death, Sullivan said. Transit Police and the Plymouth County District Attorney’s Office are investigating.

“On behalf of the TPD and the entire MBTA organization, we offer our most sincere condolences to the decedent’s family and friends,” Sullivan wrote in an email.

No further information, including the man’s identity, has been released.
