Man charged after altercation between neighbors in Pawtucket

PAWTUCKET, R.I. (WPRI) — Police have charged a Pawtucket man in connection with an altercation that happened Tuesday afternoon.

Jose Cardoso, 39, has been charged with felony assault and battery.

Officers were called to Pawtucket Avenue for a disturbance between neighbors. It’s unclear what prompted the altercation at this time.

Police said Cardoso suffered minor injuries in the altercation. The other man involved was seriously injured, but is expected to survive, according to police.

Court records indicate Cardoso faced a judge Wednesday and posted $50,000 surety bond. He was also issued a no-contact order and asked to surrender his passport.

Cardoso’s next court date is scheduled for June 17.
