Man airlifted after Kanawha County side-by-side accident

KANAWHA COUNTY, W.Va. (WOWK) – A man is being rushed to the hospital via helicopter after a side-by-side accident near Hogpen Road in Belle.

First responders have shut down Route 60 near Simmons Creek Road to make room for a helicopter to land.

According to Sergeant Burns with the Kanawha County Sheriff’s Office, a 78-year-old man was thrown from a side-by-side. It is believed that the man has internal bleeding and a laceration to the head.

Crews had a difficult time getting to the scene of the accident due to its location in the woods.

Once crews load up the patient on a side-by-side, they will head off the mountain towards the helicopter.

We have a 13 News crew heading to the scene now and will update this story as soon as we learn any new information.
