ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. – A man accused of walking arond the Ventana Ranch area while armed and making threats now faces a retaliation charge after a jail call tied his threats to a family sexual assault case.
KOB 4 first reported on Kenneth Bair this summer after police accused him of making threats and bringing weapons to the home of an Albuquerque Police Department and Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office employee.
Police arrested Bair on stalking and assault charges, and a judge ordered him held until trial.
Court records show Bair and his wife discussed an ongoing criminal case and civil case during a jail phone call.
The records say a member of Bair’s family stands accused of sexual assault against a family member of a Bernalillo County Sheriff’s Office deputy.
The records say Bair told his wife he wanted to protect his family and bring attention to their case in any way he could.
Court records said prosecutors then charged Bair with retaliation against a witness.
KOB 4 is working to learn more details about the sexual assault case.
Court records also show a judge granted a 20-year restraining order against Bair because of the threats.
