Notre Dame sophomore outfielder Bino Watters has committed to LSU baseball out of the transfer portal, he announced on social media on Wednesday.
Watters was the top player available in the portal, according to Baseball America, after hitting .362 with a 1.057 on-base plus slugging percentage this spring. His exploits earned him a first-team All-ACC selection as he hit 10 home runs and had 31 extra-base hits.
Watters primarily played left field or designated hitter this past season for the Fighting Irish. In LSU’s lone matchup with Notre Dame, Watters went 1 for 5 with a single.
Watters is the third player LSU has added out of the portal this summer, joining Gonzaga right-hander Landon Hood and Texas State shortstop Dawson Park.
Watters fills an immediate hole for the Tigers in the outfield, with starters Derek Curiel, Chris Stanfield and Jake Brown all departing after this season. Stanfield has run out of eligibility, while Curiel and Brown are expected to be selected on the first day of the MLB Draft.
