ELYRIA, Ohio — Lorain County Joint Vocational School has named Megan Champagne as its new high school principal, a leader the school says will help students prepare for their careers through collaboration, creativity and civic responsibility.
Under Champagne’s leadership, Lorain County JVS plans to expand its educational opportunities and strengthen its impact on the county’s economic growth and rising workforce needs.
“Lorain County is entering a golden era of opportunity,” Lorain County Commissioner Marty Gallagher said in a news release. “With Lorain County JVS as a cornerstone of workforce development, Megan Champagne’s leadership marks an important milestone in preparing students for the high-skill, high-demand careers shaping our economy.”
The vocational school currently enrolls more than 1,400 high school students and 500 adult learners from 13 associate districts. With Lorain County’s population now exceeding 317,000, demand for skilled workers continues to grow across the region, according to the release.
Lorain County JVS addresses this need by offering more than 30 career-focused programs that integrate academic coursework with practical training in areas including robotics, healthcare, culinary arts and manufacturing. The school partners with more than 200 employers, regional chambers and post-secondary institutions to connect classroom learning with real-world opportunities.
“I believe in the transformative power of career-technical education, and I am so honored to lead this school,” Champagne said in the release. “LCJVS is a place where students find purpose, confidence, and opportunity. Together with our dedicated instructors and partners, we’ll continue building a school culture that celebrates learning, leadership, and community.”
