SOUTH CHARLESTON, WV (WOWK) – Wednesday was the first day of the WVSSAC State Softball Tournament at Little Creek Park, and the Class A and Class AA tournaments went on simultaneously throughout the day.
The Logan Wildcats went 1-1 on Wednesday, defeating Liberty-Raleigh in their early game 8-0 in five innings, but dropped their second match up of the day to Oak Glen 3-0. Logan will have to play on Thursday morning against Petersburg, and will face elimination as the winner will face Oak Glen for the Class AA championship.
In Class A, the Wahama White Falcons, the winners of the 2021, 2022, and 2023 state championships, were in a tough match up in their first game where they came back to defeat Greenbrier West 7-4. On Wednesday evening, they faced 30-2 Pendleton County and dropped that contest 6-0. The Falcons will battle Greenbrier West for the second time, this time with both teams facing elimination, the winner will face Pendleton County for the Class A championship.
