LAMOURE (NewsDakota)- The Thielges brothers put on quite a show on Saturday at Townsend field in LaMoure as the two combined for seven touchdowns in a round two win for LaMoure-Litchville-Marion over Kidder County 56-6 in 9-man playoff football action.
L-L-M got on the board first when Gunner galloped in from eight yards out with 3:50 remaining in the first quarter to give the Loboes a 6-0 lead. The two point conversion failed. On its next possession, L-L-M struck again when junior QB Mason Warcken hooked up with freshman Owen DelaBarre from eight yards out to cap off an eight play drive. The same combination also converted the two point conversion for a 14-0 lead at the 8:54 mark of the second quarter.
Kidder County then mounted it first drive of the game and had a first and goal situation and a chance to cut the lead in half. That’s when Colby Thiegles got rolling with his monster second quarter. Thiegles came up with a pick in the endzone that snuffed out the Wolves scoring chance. On the very next play, Colby caught an 80 yard TD strike from Warcken to increase the lead to 20-0. Warcken found junior Henry Lettenmaier in the end zone to finish off the two point conversion and extended the lead to 22-0 with 6:26 left before halftime.
Thielges then came up with his second pick of the quarter, and he returned it 48 yards for a TD, and just like that the Loboes were up 28-0 with 3:28 to go in the half. The two point conversion attempt failed. Colby added his third TD of quarter two when he hauled in a 14 yard TD pass from Warcken with one tick left on the clock. The two point conversion again failed but L-L-M took a 34-0 lead into the break.
More of the same for quarter three as Gunner threw a flea flicker 25 yard TD pass to his younger brother to blow the game open at the 7:59 mark. Gunner reached paydirt for the second time in the game when he bolted in from 18 yards out with 45 seconds remaining in the third, and he added his third TD of the game when he got loose for a 52 yard score with 9:15 remaining in the game and that gave the Loboes a 56-6 lead.
Kidder County got a one yard TD run from senior Bryce Larson that was set up with senior Mason Whiteman busted tackles on his way to a 72 yard run.
The Loboe defense was stingy as they forced three turnovers, came up with four sacks and limited the Wolves to only 118 yards of total offense including only 35 in the first half. Junior Preston Arndt had two sacks for L-L-M.
The L-L-M offense finished with 372 yards on 37 plays.
The Loboes, 10-0, will host South Border in the Semi-Finals on Saturday, November 8th withcoverage on KDDR The Tornado beginning at Noon. The Mustangs, 8-2, picked up an upset win at Linton/HMB 26-22 on Saturday. It will be a rematch as these two teams met in Wishek on September 12th and the Loboes came out on top 50-7.
