Little Rock golf fans celebrate the final day of Simmons Bank Championship

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Hundreds of golf fans lined the fairways at Pleasant Valley Country Club this weekend as the Simmons Bank Championship made its much-anticipated return to the capital city.

Some fans watched from nearby backyards, eager to catch a glimpse of some of the world’s top golfers teeing off right in their hometown.

“In a tournament like this, you can get up close to them,” said local fan Rick Beard.

The event brought together 52 players from around the globe, including competitors from New Zealand, Australia, and Thailand.

Fans Emile and Matt Snyder said they were happy to share the experience with their kids without having to leave their hometown.

“We love the golf tournament—it’s our second year coming,” Emile said. “It’s a lot of fun to be able to come out here and enjoy it.”

While many fans came for the excitement of competition, others simply enjoyed the experience of seeing world-class golfers up close. And this year, it was New Zealand’s Steven Alker who took home the championship trophy.

“These are people who’ve won multiple tournaments throughout their lives—they are incredible golfers,” Beard said.

This was the second year Pleasant Valley Country Club has hosted the Simmons Bank Championship, and fans are hoping it becomes a permanent stop on the tour.
