LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) – The Lincoln Police Department made an arrest after investigating a fire that destroyed three vehicles in central Lincoln on Monday.
Lincoln Fire and Rescue and LPD responded to a vehicle fire in an alley in the area of 30th and Q streets around 3:45 a.m.
LPD said an orange Jeep Renegade, valued at $9,600 was set on fire.
A nearby GMC Acadia valued at $6,500 and a Nissan Rogue valued at $500 were also burned.
An LFR fire investigator determined the cause of the fire was arson.
According to LPD, as officers were responding to the scene, they saw a vehicle driving in a circle near the fire with no rear lights on.
Officers conducted a traffic stop and smelled gasoline on the driver, as well as residue on his clothing.
The driver was identified as 59-year-old Logan Johnson of Lincoln.
Johnson was detained and taken back to the scene by officers.
LPD said officers reviewed footage from a nearby home that showed Johnson in the alley before and after the fire started with the same clothing.
Johnson was arrested and taken to the Lancaster County Jail on suspicion of first-degree arson.
