Las Vegas’ Harry Reid airport ranks fifth busiest by aircraft movement | Tourism

Harry Reid International Airport is the fifth busiest in the world when ranked by aircraft takeoffs and landings, Montreal-based Airports Council International reported Tuesday.

Reid has four active runways to handle air traffic volume with flights to and from more than 170 destination airports.

With 586,046 aircraft movements in 2025, Reid maintained the No. 5 ranking it had in 2024, but moved up from eighth place in 2019. The Las Vegas airport ranked behind O’Hare International Airport in Chicago, Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International, Dallas Fort Worth International and Denver International, but ahead of Los Angeles International and Charlotte Douglas International in North Carolina in the 2025 rankings.

Reid airport didn’t make the top 10 in three other ACI rankings: number of passengers, number of international passengers and loaded and unloaded cargo.

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta is ACI’s top airport by total number of passengers with 106.3 million in 2025, while Dubai International in the United Arab Emirates was the top airport for international passengers with 95.2 million.

The leading airport for cargo is Hong Kong International with 5.1 million metric tons.

Atlanta’s airport is deemed the busiest in the world by number of passengers served, surpassing Dubai, Tokyo’s Haneda International, Dallas-Fort Worth, Shanghai Pudong International in China, Chicago O’Hare, London’s Heathrow International, Istanbul Airport in Turkey, Guangzhou Baiyun International in China and Denver International.

“We congratulate the world’s busiest airports for managing growing air travel demand amid increasing operational complexity,” said ACI World Director General Justin Erbacci. “These hubs keep people and goods moving, supporting global trade, tourism and economic growth in their communities and regions. To help keep pace with rising demand, governments must prioritize sustained investment in airports and the broader aviation ecosystem.”

The busiest U.S. cargo airport is Ted Stevens Anchorage International Airport, closely followed by Louisville Muhammad Ali International Airport, a hub for UPS, and Memphis International Airport, a hub for FedEx.

ACI said that in 2025, the total number of global passengers is estimated to have reached 9.8 billion, representing an increase of 3.6 percent from 2024 or a gain of 7.3 percent from 2019 results.

The top 10 busiest airports for total passenger traffic represents 9 percent of global passenger traffic.
