A 51-year-old elementary school teacher was arrested Friday on child abuse-related charges, the Clark County School District Police Department said.

Kha Nam Nguyen was booked into the Clark County Detention Center, school district police said in a statement.

The arrest stems from an investigation at Fong Elementary School in northwest Las Vegas in February, the statement said.

Nguyen, employed by the school district since January 2007, is a fifth-grade teacher, last assigned to Fong Elementary.

“Nguyen has been assigned to home since the beginning of the investigation per the terms of the negotiated agreement with the bargaining unit,” the statement said.
