STUDIO CITY, LOS ANGELES (KABC) — A 79-year-old landlord shot and killed a naked intruder after being body-slammed by the assailant Friday morning at a Studio City apartment, authorities said.
The violent incident occurred around 7:15 a.m. in the 4500 block of Tujunga Avenue, in a building nestled between the street and a 101 Freeway offramp. Police initially said the scene was in nearby North Hollywood.
A resident’s surveillance camera captured the intruder as he walked naked around the neighborhood. Video shows him at the front door of a home, grab a sign nearby and then continue walking.
According to a Los Angeles Police Department spokesperson, the suspect entered an apartment and was confronted by two women who were at home at the time.
The women yelled at the trespasser to get out, prompting the landlord to rush to their aid, the LAPD said.
The intruder body-slammed the landlord, breaking both of the victim’s legs, police said.
The 79-year-old man “at this time, in self-defense, shoots the suspect three times,” said Capt. Warner Castillo of the Los Angeles Police Department.
The injured victim was transported to a hospital; an update on his condition was not immediately available. No injuries to the women were reported.
“I heard commotion, like a lady yelling,” said a woman who witnessed the incident and declined to be identified by name. “Then I looked over and it was a naked guy. At first I thought it was just like, maybe its a house fire. Like, why is he out here naked?
“There was an older guy in the home,” the witness told ABC7. “The naked guy was walking through their gate, and shots were fired. I heard one shot. Then I looked over and the naked guy was on the ground. The older guy was on the ground and shot him two more times.”
