Kings of Leon cancel tour dates after singer’s ‘freak accident’

The Kings of Leon have canceled a 10-show run of their current tour after a “gnarly” injury forced lead singer Caleb Followill to undergo emergency surgery.

The 43-year-old rocker announced on Instagram that a string of European shows set to begin next month will have to wait due to Followill being hobbled for roughly the next eight weeks.

“I regret to inform you that those shows will have to be canceled due to a freak accident that happened the other day — broke my foot pretty bad just playing with my kids,” he said Wednesday.

Followill and his model wife, Lily Aldridge, share a daughter and son, ages 12 and 6.

The “Wait for Me” singer spared fans the details of his injury, though he did show his leg in a cast. Followill said he’s on the mend, but off his feet.

“It’a a big bummer man, we were so excited,” he said. “We’ve been preparing for this tour a long time.”

The European run of the Can We Please Have Fun Tour was scheduled to begin on June 10 in Paris and would have concluded in Portugal on July 12.

The band is currently still set to perform three shows at MetLife Stadium in East Rutherford, N.J. beginning July 18.
