Karen Goodson Rush

A memorial service for Karen Goodson Rush, wife of Eddie Rush, will be held at Bethany Bible Chapel in Conway March 17 at 11 a.m.

Mrs. Rush passed away March 14 at her home surrounded by her loving family.

Born in Conway, she was a daughter of the late Kenneth T. Goodson, Madelyn Hatchell and her stepfather, Mike Hatchell. She was predeceased by her parents, grandparents, and a brother-in-law, Howard McMeekin. Surviving are two sons, Matthew Palmer and Josh Rush; three grandchildren, Phoenix Palmer, Makayla Palmer and Cora Kate Rush; three sisters, Cathy Hucks (James) of Myrtle Beach; Delores Dickerson (Larry) and Sharon McMeekin all of Conway; two brothers; Heith Hatchell (Kellie) of Conway and Kenny Goodson and extended Goodson family of Jacksonville, N.C.; a special thank you to Winifred “Sister” Anderson.

Karen also leaves behind many precious nieces, nephews and friends that she dearly loved. Karen was a free spirit who never met a stranger. She loved and lived life to the absolute fullest – always trying to care for animals and people in need.

Her special passions were her flowers, plants and a sunny beach day. She could take a plant that most people would throw away and nurture it back to something beautiful. Karen could walk into a room and make any situation better with her smile, her contagious laughter and what we lovingly call “Karenisms”. She was truly a breath of fresh air and sunshine to all who knew and loved her. She loved her family and friends beyond measure, and she will surely be missed.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be sent to City of Conway, C/O Beautification, 223 Main St., Conway, SC 29526.
