HONOLULU (KHON2) — A portion of the temporary Kapaa Bypass Road on Kauai will be fully closed for several days next week as crews work on roadway improvements, the state transportation department said.

The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) announced that the southbound-only stretch of Route 5600 will be closed from Tuesday, May 27 through Friday, May 30, between 8:30 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. each day.
Drivers will be detoured to Lehua Street during the closure.

The work is part of a project to install new striping and pavement markers on the newly resurfaced road.
If weather delays the work, it will be rescheduled for Monday, June 2 through Friday, June 6.
