MARSHALL, MN – Jamestown Jimmies Women’s Soccer again wasn’t about to take a loss.
The Jimmies extended their unbeaten streak to five matches Sunday when Kyah Gabel scored a tying goal in the 66th minute for a 2-2 draw with Southwest Minnesota State at Mattke Field. It was Jamestown’s second draw in as many matches for the weekend.
After Oriana Borrome took the ball away in the Mustangs’ end, she fed Gabel, who fired a shot into the top left corner for her second goal of the season.
The Mustangs (1-7-3, 1-5-2 NSIC) scored on their first shot when Karla Paredes-Nino took a Jada Backes cross and tallied in the 11th minute.
Jamestown (4-4-3, 4-4-2) evened the game for the first time when Marisa Brown scored her first goal and point as a Jimmie off a short corner from Langley Grow in the 36th minute.
Parades-Nino struck again in the 49th minute for SMSU, giving the Mustangs the lead again on a rebound of a Backes short that hit the right post.
The Jimmies had a 14-5 shot advantage and 8-4 on net. UJ goalkeeper Taylor Musser made two saves.
Jamestown will host UMary on Friday evening at 6:00 PM at Rollie Greeno Field at Charlotte and Gordon Hansen Stadium.
