Videos shared on social media showed large crowds gathering at Howard University in Washington, D.C., as rapper J. Cole made a stop on campus Wednesday.
J. Cole, whose name is Jermaine Cole, visited the historically Black university, one of several stops to promote and sell copies of his recent album “The Fall Off,” which he spent years teasing as his final production.
“Look at [the] crowd,” one account posted on X, which included video of a large group of people cheering as he waved.
But he didn’t just stop there. The artist shared on X that he would pick up fans in Silver Spring, Maryland, to ride along with him as he played parts of the double-sided album.
Aight im currently in Silver Springs, MD. If there’s anybody in the area that wants to ride with me in the Civic while we listen to the album let me know. I got new speakers for this. Please be in the vacinity of silver springs, ima come pick you up with ib, then we can go scoop…

Several people took up the offer shortly after.
Cole’s visit to Howard followed a day after he appeared at Hampton University in Hampton, Virginia, according to the student-run newspaper and ABC affiliate WVEC.
He also visited North Carolina A&T University in Greensboro, North Carolina.
