DURHAM, N.C. (WNCN) — Crews are trying to determine the circumstances around a massive fire that was in and around a building in east Durham, according to the Durham Fire Department.
A spokesperson with the department said that first responders were called around 11 p.m. Tuesday to a structure fire on the 700 block of East Geer Street.
Upon arrival, the first responding unit reported a fully involved fire that extended into a wooded area around the building.
“The woods fire was quickly brought under control and the fire in the building was brought under control in approximately 30 minutes,” the spokesperson said. “Crews on scene encountered access issues, which extended the time it took to fully extinguish the fire.”
According to the spokesperson, no injuries were reported and the building appeared to be abandoned.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
