INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — We’re now less than eight months away from the 110th running of the Indianapolis 500 at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway, and IMS leaders say the excitement is already growing.
IMS Director of Marketing Michael Kaltenmark joined Daybreak ahead of Monday’s IndyCar testing. Kaltenmark says next year’s race could be a sellout like in 2025.
“As we head into the winter, ticket sales are up, and I hope and I think we may have another sellout come next May,” he said. “We have our renewal period right after the race, (and we) not only saw an uptick in renewals, but in new applications for tickets, as well.”
The growth in racing has also lead to the excitement for the 500. Kaltenmark said that 8 million viewers tuned into the 109th running of the Indy 500. Many people called after asking how they could come to the race.
“It’s been a slow build since the 100th running, but the racing on track speaks for itself,” he said.
Drivers will be on the road course 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday for INDYCAR testing. The testing is open to the public.
