SPEEDWAY, Ind. (WISH) — Thousands on Friday celebrated the Carb Day way, by partying, not just at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway but also in the town of Speedway ahead of Sunday’s Indianapolis 500.
The All-American Rejects and Bret Michaels co-headlined the Carb Day concert in Turn 3 to such a packed crowd that the gates were closed shortly after The All-American Rejects took the stage.
Alexis Hale said, “It’s a tradition for my workplace. They bring us every year. So, we shut down the office Friday for Carb Day and we come and hang out all day. We got to see the Wienie 500, which was a new experience and I think that made my dreams come true.”
The The All-American Rejects band started in 1999 but has gained a second wave of notoriety by performing at house parties across the country.
Hale said, “I’ve been following them since probably 2005, so my middle school dreams are happening.”
Meanwhile, Speedway Rockin’ on Main brought in Nashville artist Clayton Anderson.
Drew Craig said, “Nothing gets better than this. It’s like Thanksgiving, Christmas and Memorial Day weekend” in one.
If this atmosphere is any indication, the first sold-out Indy 500 in nearly a decade is about to be even crazier.
