Indianapolis weather: Showers and gusty winds expected – Indianapolis News | Indiana Weather | Indiana Traffic

INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Showers are expected to continue across Indianapolis today, primarily affecting areas along and south of I-70, with gusty winds reaching up to 30 mph.

The rain is part of a weather system moving through the region, bringing scattered showers and breezy conditions that will persist into Thursday morning. The low-pressure system responsible for the rain is centered to the south and west and is expected to move into Ohio later in the day.

Rainfall is expected to be light, with estimates suggesting only a few hundredths of an inch around Indianapolis and up to an inch near the Ohio River.

54° forecasted for today, which is slightly below average for this time of year.

The wind will pick up as the low-pressure system deepens, potentially causing gusts between 20 and 30 mph. These conditions are expected to persist throughout the day and into the evening.

Looking ahead, Friday is expected to be partly cloudy and dry, providing good conditions for trick-or-treating. Temperatures will be in the mid-50s during the evening, with winds not expected to be a significant issue.

As the weekend approaches, temperatures will remain slightly below average, with mostly cloudy skies on Saturday and a chance of stray showers on Sunday. Daylight saving time ends this weekend, so residents should remember to set their clocks back one hour before going to bed on Saturday night.

The weather system will bring cooler temperatures and rain to the Indianapolis area today, with conditions expected to improve by Friday, just in time for Halloween festivities.
