Husker baseball drops No. 1-seeded Ducks in Big Ten tournament

LINCOLN, Neb. (KLKN) — The Nebraska baseball team kept its season alive Saturday, beating No. 1 Oregon 7-3 in the final game of pool play in the Big Ten Tournament at Charles Schwab Field.

With the win, the Huskers finish Pool A with a 2-0 record and advance to the semifinals of the tournament to continue their quest for back-to-back tournament titles.

As a team, Nebraska complied 11 hits and committed zero errors while the Ducks racked up 12 hits and committed three errors.

Gabe Swansen continued his strong postseason play, going 2-for-5 from the dish with a 2-run homer in the top of the first inning.

Cayden Brumbaugh also tallied two hits for the Huskers, while Case Sanderson hit a 2-RBI single in the top of the fifth inning to grow Nebraska’s lead.

Jackson Brockett (4-3) got the win on the mound for the Big Red, pitching six innings while allowing six hits, one run and striking out four batters.

Will Walsh came in for a three-inning save, giving up six hits and totaling two strikeouts.

The Huskers will take the field on Saturday night for a semifinal matchup with No. 9-seeded Penn State.

First pitch is scheduled for 5 p.m. at Charles Schwab Field.
