Huntington YMCA hosts youth enrichment program

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WOWK) — This week, the Phil Cline YMCA has been working to help support the kids in their community.

In a partnership with the Prevention Empowerment Partnership, the YMCA has been hosting the Propel Youth Enrichment Program.

The program offers kids the opportunity to explore different fields like art and science. With the opportunity to meet Marshall University Athletes, visit the Alchemy theater, and see Marshall’s portable planetarium.

Judy Eaton, the branch director of the Phil Cline YMCA, says it’s important to show kids different experiences as they grow up.

“Sometimes kids don’t get the opportunity as other kids, so, I think it’s super important,” said Eaton. “And teaching them lessons teaches them how to be a leader teaches them, you know, just about the world. And so we’re super happy to bring it to them.”

This week’s program was open to kids in the fourth through sixth grades.

Starting July 7 through July 11, the program will be open to kids in the seventh through the ninth grades.
