Huntington man charged with allegedly selling drugs to minor, resulting in death

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. (WOWK) — A man alleged to have sold drugs to a minor, which resulted in their death, was arrested by Huntington Police on Sunday.

Huntington Police said in a release that 39-year-old Tony Eldon Lee Jr. of Huntington is charged with Delivery of a Controlled Substance Causing Death, Obstructing and two unrelated warrants for Battery and Destruction of Property.

According to the release, a 15-year-old male suffered cardiac arrest in the 1200 block of Madison Avenue on July 19. He was transported to the hospital where he was pronounced deceased not long after arriving.

An autopsy performed by the WV State Medical Examiner’s Office determined the cause of death to be “methamphetamine intoxication.”

The investigation lead officials to Lee, the juvenile’s mother’s live-in boyfriend, revealing evidence that he sold illegal narcotics to the juvenile just before the death. An arrest warrant was filed shortly after for Lee’s arrest.

On Sunday afternoon, Huntington Police located Lee in the west end of Huntington. Although he provided a false name to officers, he was quickly identified and taken into custody, the release said.

Lee was arraigned by a Cabell County Magistrate and is being held at the Western Regional Jail on a $106,000 cash-only bond. He was previously convicted of Delivery of a Controlled Substance in June 2015.
