HPD looking for Waialua carjacking suspect

The Honolulu Police Department is asking the public to be on the lookout for an armed robbery suspect who forced a man from his car and stole it at gunpoint near Polo Beach on Farrington Highway in Waialua.

At about 1 p.m. today HPD District 2 patrol officers responded to a report of a robbery, according to a statement from HPD.

A 65-year-old man was sitting ins his wife’s parked vehicle when an “unknown Caucasian male entered the back seat, brandished a black handgun, and threatened him,” according to police.

The suspect ordered the victim to drive toward Waialua, then told him to stop near Waialua High School.

“The suspect forced the victim out of the car, took his personal property, and fled southbound on Farrington Highway toward Haleʻiwa. No injuries were reported,” according to police.

The suspect is described as a Caucasian man, 30–40 years old, about 5’9”, 175–180 lbs., wearing a black long-sleeve shirt and pants and armed with a black handgun, possibly a Glock.

The stolen vehicle is a white 2005 Honda CR-V.
