ALBUQUERQUE, N.M. — New Mexico Department of Transportation detailed how they will handle traffic and construction on Interstate 25 during Albuquerque’s Balloon Fiesta.
All three travel lanes will remain open on northbound and southbound I-25. Traffic will remain shifted to the outside lanes through the project area. Comanche Road and Montgomery Boulevard will have lane reductions.
Drivers should expect increased traffic and allow extra travel time. Construction work may continue during Balloon Fiesta but no planned impacts are scheduled during the event.
Business access will remain open throughout the project area. Balloon Fiesta is set for Oct. 3-11, 2026.
