COLUMBUS, Ohio — Defensive end Caden Curry put together a dominant performance in Ohio State football’s Big Ten opener at Washington on Saturday, and he was recognized accordingly by the conference as a result.
Curry was named the Big Ten’s defensive player of the week Monday. The honor came after he collected 11 tackles, five tackles for loss and three sacks in a victory against the Huskies.
His five tackles for loss tied a single-game program record, and the Buckeyes improved to 13-0 when Curry records a tackle for loss.
The senior helped anchor Ohio State’s defense in a dominant effort against an elite offense.
Washington entered the contest averaging nearly 56 points per game. The Huskies were limited to two fields goals against the Buckeyes.
With Curry’s help, Ohio State kept Washington out of the end zone despite three red zone trips. OSU is the only team in the Football Bowl Subdivision without a red zone touchdown allowed this season.
