A prequel to the acclaimed “Game of Thrones” series, “House of the Dragon” draws inspiration from George R.R. Martin’s 2018 fantasy novel, “Fire & Blood.” The HBO Original follows the members of House Targaryen, whose centuries-long seat upon the Iron Throne is threatened by infighting, betrayal, and dragons.

The series begins with King Viserys’ generally peaceful reign. Upon his death, however, competing claims for king and queen tear the family apart with devastating consequences. The late ruler’s oldest child, Rhaenyra, is challenged by his firstborn son, Aegon, kickstarting a period fire-powered war that overtakes Westeros.
“House of the Dragon” season 3 premieres Sunday, June 21 at 9 p.m. ET on HBO. New episodes will be released weekly until the eighth and final installment airs on August 9.
