YOU SEE HERE OFF OF WEST 43RD STREET SOUTH AROUND 5:20 P.M. HEAVY SMOKE AND FLAMES ARE ALREADY SHOWING FROM THE OUTSIDE AND THE ROOF. CREWS SAY THE FIRE WAS REALLY DIFFICULT TO PUT OUT. TWO FAMILY PETS DIED.
Two family pets died in a Newton house fire Monday evening. Heavy smoke and flames were visible when Newton fire crews arrived in the 600 block of W. 3rd Street S around 5:20 p.m. Monday, according to a news release. Officials say “the fire was deep-seated within the structure and was difficult to extinguish.” Firefighters remained on the scene for about three hours, then returned at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday after it rekindled.The home appears to be a total loss, according to the release, which also said no injuries were reported. NEWTON, Iowa —
Two family pets died in a Newton house fire Monday evening.
Heavy smoke and flames were visible when Newton fire crews arrived in the 600 block of W. 3rd Street S around 5:20 p.m. Monday, according to a news release. Officials say “the fire was deep-seated within the structure and was difficult to extinguish.”
