VALLEY CITY, N.D. (NewsDakota.com) – Valley City Public School District Superintendent Josh Johnson said effective immediately, assistant coach Rob Hunt will become the interim head coach for the Hi Liner football team and will fill this position for the remainder of this season. He said our four assistant coaches will continue in their current positions.

On Monday, September 14th, Valley City High School Principal Travis Peterson informed Hi Liner football players about the school districts decision. Johnson said please know that our districts priorities will remain focused on our students and their positive and safe experiences participating in extra-curricular activities at Valley City High School.

Johnson said because this is a district personnel matter, we will not be providing any further information, comments, or details on this coaching change that was made Friday, September 11th with our football program.

i3G Media sportscaster Ryan Cunningham, who called the Hi Liner football game on Friday, September 11th said at 1pm Chad Smith was the head football coach, but by 7pm Friday night he was not on the sideline or in the coaches box as the head coach.
