INDIANAPOLIS (WISH) — Nine-time Grammy winner Herb Alpert will bring his “Tijuana Brass & Other Delights” tour to Clowes Memorial Hall at Butler University in Indianapolis on September 16.
The performance marks the 60th anniversary of his iconic album, “Whipped Cream & Other Delights.”
Alpert, who has sold more than 72 million records throughout his career, will perform hits from across his decades in the music industry.
The production is designed to be interactive and includes projections of classic photos and video from throughout Alpert’s career. The show features a new six-member Tijuana Brass ensemble performing alongside the trumpeter.
The concert setlist will include a parade of hits such as “The Lonely Bull,” “Spanish Flea,” “A Taste of Honey,” “Mexican Shuffle,” “Tijuana Taxi,” “This Guy’s In Love With You,” “Zorba the Greek” and “Rise.”
Alpert and his group reached the height of pop music fame in 1966, when Alpert & The Tijuana Brass achieved the since-unmatched feat of simultaneously having four albums in the Top 10 and five in the Top 20. During that period, the group’s record sales doubled those of the Beatles.
Alpert’s discography includes 15 gold albums and 14 platinum albums. He also holds the unique distinction of being the only musical artist to earn a number one spot on the charts for both an instrumental and a vocal single.
His most recent Grammy Award followed the 2014 release of his album “Steppin’ Out.” In addition to his nine Grammys, Alpert’s career is marked by five number one hits.
Prices of tickets have not yet been released. Tickets for the concert go on sale Friday and will also be sold at the Clowes Memorial Hall box office on the day of the show.
