SIOUX FALLS S.D. (KELO) — A helicopter rescued a Meade County rancher after what the sheriff’s office called a serious accident involving a horse.

Mitchell Mayor asks city to consider prison

Witnesses saw the accident and called first responders immediately. Within minutes, a Life-Flight helicopter was dispatched, landing in a pasture to take the rancher to the hospital.

The family of the rancher shared photos of the rescue with the sheriff’s office on Facebook.

“Our community is well aware of the inherent hazards associated with our way of life,” the Meade County Sheriff’s office wrote in a Facebook post.
