Heat comes back, storm chance Sunday

The heat is coming back full force for the weekend into early next week. Storms are possible on Sunday, as well.

A Heat Advisory is in place for ALL of Nebraska starting Saturday and going through Monday. An Excessive Heat Watch is in place around Omaha into Iowa. That will likely become an Excessive Heat Warning soon.

Temperatures will ramp back up on Saturday with highs in the middle and upper 90s with some low 100s possible.

Add in a dew point in the 70s and the heat index will be well into the 100s Saturday afternoon.

We get even warmer on Sunday. Highs will be near 100 degrees across the entire state.

The heat index on Sunday will be very high. Heat illnesses will be possible if you are out in the heat too long.

Know the signs!

Late Sunday, a line of storms will move from north to south and may have a few strong to severe storms embedded.

A level 1 “Marginal Risk” is in place for parts of eastern Nebraska for this potential. Just something to keep an eye on!
