Conor McGlynn scored twice in the first half, starting Westchester SC on its way to a 5-1 win over Portland Hearts of Pine in a USL League One match Friday night in Mount Vernon, New York.
It was the fourth straight loss for Hearts, including a USL Cup match against Brooklyn FC. Portland dropped behind Westchester into 12th place in the USL1 standings with a 3-5-5 record.
Hearts are winless in their last nine road matches since a season-opening 3-1 win at New York Cosmos.
Portland had a possession advantage in the early portion of Friday’s game but fell behind in the 27th minute when the 6-foot-4 McGlynn got his head on a Noah Powder corner kick and sent it past Hearts keeper Hunter Morse.
McGlynn then converted a penalty kick in first-half extra time after Maximus Jennings was taken down in the box by Josh Drack.
Jonathan Jimenez made it 3-0 in the 54th minute with a low, left-footed shot to Morse’s right.
Miguel Diaz joined the scoring barrage in the 72nd minute, spinning around after a pass from Daniel Burko and beating Morse with a high left-footed shot.
Jimenez then got his second goal in the 88th minute, driving into the box before sending a shot into the lower left corner.
Hearts averted a shut out when Aboubacar Camara scored in the 93rd minute. Camara took a pass from Ollie Wright, turned around a defender in the box and drilled a shot past keeper Luca Marinelli for his third goal of the season.
