Hazel’s Public House Finds Home in Former Big Whiskey’s LR

Little Rock’s dining scene is about to get even more delicious. The team behind Allsopp & Chapple is launching Hazel’s Public House, a new burger-forward restaurant set to open at 225 E. Markham St.—formerly home to Big Whiskey’s—in early 2026.

Hazel’s promises to take the classic American burger to new heights, focusing on premium ingredients, scratch-made recipes, and the kind of comfort food that keeps people coming back.

At the heart of the menu is Hazel’s signature burger, crafted from USDA Prime, 100% Black Angus beef—a blend of brisket and chuck from grass-fed cattle raised without hormones or antibiotics. Each patty is seasoned with a proprietary spice blend and pan-seared for the perfect crust, then served on a freshly baked brioche bun made daily in the restaurant’s in-house bakery.

“We’re building Hazel’s Public House on the idea that simple ingredients make the best burgers—we let the natural flavors take center stage,” said Eric Carter, co-owner of Allsopp & Chapple and Hazel’s Public House. “Our goal is for every guest to feel the commitment we put into every detail.”

Co-owner Jay Cowley added, “We’re excited to open this new restaurant concept, where we put a unique spin on some of our favorite foods, crafted the same way we love to enjoy them at home.”

Though burgers are the star, the menu goes far beyond. Guests can expect fresh salads, sandwiches and appetizers, all made with the same dedication to quality. The hand-cut French fries, fried in beef tallow for an extra-rich flavor, are sure to become a fan favorite. Dessert lovers will find comfort in house-baked pies with scratch-made crusts and natural ingredients.

The restaurant will also feature a full bar with craft cocktails, local beers and daily happy hour specials, making it a perfect spot for lunch breaks, casual dates or late-night bites.

More than just another burger joint, Hazel’s Public House aims to be a gathering place where everyone feels welcome, whether they’re catching a game, dining with family or grabbing a nightcap downtown.

Hazel’s Public House is set to open in early 2026, with more details to be announced soon. To stay up to date on its progress, follow the restaurant on social media or check out its website.
