“In early October, Sammy Lisero Cardoza attended the first day of his trial on charges of Sexual Abuse in the First Degree, Unlawful Sexual Penetration in the First Degree, and two counts of Sodomy in the First Degree. Cardoza, who was out of custody on pre-trial release, removed his GPS ankle monitor the following morning and failed to appear on the second day of trial.  A nationwide warrant was issued for his arrest,” the Gresham Police Department said in a press release.

On Tuesday afternoon, agents with the U.S. Marshals Service arrested Cardoza outside a home near Southeast Steele Street and Southeast Cesar E. Chavez Boulevard in Portland.

Cardoza may now have more charges for fleeing the trial, officials said.
