PORTLAND, Ore. (KOIN) – A Gresham man will spend 25 years in prison after being found guilty of sexually abusing an 11-year-old boy.
Brian Matthew Cort, 38, was convicted of first-degree sodomy and two counts of first-degree sex abuse for the incident that took place in 2020, according to the Multnomah County District Attorney’s Office.

Investigators said Cort met with the boy to go kayaking on the Columbia River on Sept. 6, 2020, as he was a friend of the child’s family and had babysat for him before.
“Before Cort took the child kayaking, he brought the child to his residence and sexually assaulted him. Then they went kayaking for the day,” officials said. “When the boy’s father picked him up from the river, the child told him what happened and the father called the police.”
DNA evidence also showed evidence of the abuse, officials said.
