Grace Potter Announces New LP, Grand Point North Lineup

Vermont singer-songwriter Grace Potter announced the upcoming release of her new studio album, Trespasser, on Friday. That news follows the announcement earlier this week of the lineup for this year’s Grand Point North festival in Burlington.

Potter’s seventh full-length record is due out August 21 via Thirty Tigers. According to the Waitsfield native, it is a “spiritual sequel” to her 2023 album, Mother Road. As on that album, many of the songs on Trespasser are inspired by Potter driving solo between Vermont and Topanga, Calif., where she lives part of the year.

“We’ve always been taught that the trespassers are the bad guys,” Potter said in a press release. “But to me it’s not about reckless rebellion — it’s about exploring, physically and mentally and emotionally, and being willing to step outside the narratives we’ve accepted… the places we’re told not to go are exactly the ones that show us who we really are.”

Potter has released the album’s first single, “Love Me Not,” a high-energy slice of roots-inflected indie pop with a massive chorus: “Am I coming in too hot? Do you love me, do you love me not?” she belts. Potter’s husband and frequent collaborator, Eric Valentine (Queens of the Stone Age, Weezer), produced the song.

On Wednesday, Potter dropped the lineup for her annual Grand Point North festival, which runs Friday to Sunday, September 18 to 20, at Burlington’s Waterfront Park. Potter headlines on Friday and Saturday, with Grateful Dead tribute act Dark Star Orchestra closing out the Sunday show. Also appearing that weekend are Portugal. the Man, Dawes, the Devil Makes Three and Trampled by Turtles. Among the local acts are the Jesse Taylor Band, All the Rivers and Frankie White.

Potter begins touring next month to support Trespasser. In addition to headlining shows, she’ll support country stars Chris Stapleton and Zac Brown Band throughout the summer.

Tickets for Grand Point North are on sale now.
