From Aretha to Whitney, ‘Divas of Soul’ Celebrates Music Legends

UA–Pulaski Tech will bring powerhouse vocals and timeless hits to the stage with “Divas of Soul,” a high-energy tribute celebrating the legendary women of soul and R&B. The concert takes place Tuesday, Feb. 3, at 7:30 p.m. at The Center for Humanities and Arts (CHARTS).

The evening stars award-winning vocalist CeCe Teneal, who leads audiences through five decades of iconic music from some of the most influential voices in history. The show spans the commanding anthems of Aretha Franklin and Tina Turner, the disco-era brilliance of Donna Summer and the unforgettable pop-soul classics of Whitney Houston. Fan favorites, including “Midnight Train to Georgia,” “Respect,” “I’m Every Woman,” and “River Deep, Mountain High,” are all part of the setlist.

Opening the performance is the North Little Rock High School Choir, directed by E. Jade Keathly. The choir will perform as an ensemble and also serve as accompanists throughout the evening, adding a powerful local element to the show.

Based in Florida, Teneal has performed in more than 47 countries and is a four-time Independent Music Award nominee. Her career highlights include wins for Best Gospel Song and Best R&B Album for Train from Osteen, headlining the 2019 Citrus Bowl halftime show, and receiving an official day in her honor from the City of Orlando and Orange County in 2022.

Tickets range from $40 to $50 and are available now at uaptc.edu/charts. Group rates and multi-show discounts are available by contacting the box office at (501) 812-2387. Guests can also enjoy dinner, beer, wine and light concessions available for purchase during the event.
