ST. ANTHONY — All drug charges against an Olympic alpine skiing champion have been dismissed by Fremont County Prosecutor Lindsey Blake.
Samuel Bode Miller, 48, was charged with misdemeanors for possession of a controlled substance and use or possession of drug paraphernalia after an arrest in Fremont County earlier this month. A Fremont County deputy had claimed he discovered Miller in possession of psilocybin mushrooms during a traffic stop. Miller had pleaded not guilty to the charges.

“I can confirm our office is dismissing the misdemeanor charges against Mr. Miller,” Blake said in a statement to EastIdahoNews.com. “Although the deputy had sufficient probable cause to arrest Mr. Miller at the beginning of June, we recently received information which resulted in our office determining it is in the interest of justice to dismiss Mr. Miller’s misdemeanor charges. I will not be discussing the specifics of this recent information because it relates to another active case.”
On Wednesday night, EastIdahoNews.com received an emailed statement from Miller’s defense attorney, Jeromy Stafford, stating that he had discussed with Blake the possibility of getting the charges dismissed.
“No drugs were found on Bode’s person,” says the email. “After speaking with the Prosecuting Attorney for Fremont County, Idaho, Lindsey Blake, she has agreed to dismiss all charges against Bode Miller.”
On Tuesday, Miller posted a statement on Instagram saying he was driving with a friend when he was pulled over.
“I was pulled over for accelerating while passing another vehicle on a highway in Idaho. My friend, who was traveling with me, had a small amount of cannabis and a cannabis pipe in his possession, which I was unaware of,” Miller says in the post. “We fully cooperated with the officer. I am hopeful the misdemeanor charges will be dropped once the facts are reviewed.”

Greg Feig | Fremont County Jail
Miller’s friend, who was also arrested, is believed to be 55-year-old Greg Feig.
Feig is also charged with misdemeanors for possession of a controlled substance and use or possession of drug paraphernalia.
According to court documents, a Fremont County sheriff’s deputy found Feig in possession of 5.5 grams of marijuana “in bud form” and a wooden marijuana pipe with burnt marijuana residue inside. The documents say Feig admitted that he had marijuana and was booked into the Fremont County Jail on a $5,000 bond, which he paid, and was released.
Though Feig has been charged with these crimes, it does not necessarily mean he committed them. Everyone is presumed innocent until they are proven guilty.
