Freightliner donates three trucks to workforce development nonprofit

Be Pro Be Proud, a workforce development nonprofit, said it received a donation of three trucks from Freightliner, a division of Daimler Truck North America.

The three fifth-generation Cascadia trucks will help the nonprofit further its mission of reaching students exploring careers in skilled professions, a Friday news release said.

Executive Director Andrew Parker said the nonprofit is grateful for Freightliner’s continued support.

“The organization is helping enable our goal of reaching students throughout the country and stoking their interest in the many opportunities that exist in technical professions,” he said.

Be Pro Be Proud intends to use the trucks to transport additional mobile workshops equipped with interactive simulators that introduce students to more than 16 skilled professions, including manufacturing, construction, transportation and utilities.

Greg Treinen, vice president of on-highway market development for Daimler Truck North America, said the company is honored to support and inspire the next generation of professionals.

“Their work is helping build a strong talent pipeline for essential industries while opening doors for students to pursue rewarding careers,” he said.

The nonprofit started in Arkansas in 2016 with support from the Arkansas State Chamber of Commerce and Associated Industries of Arkansas. The organization has expanded to seven other states including, Alabama, Georgia, New Mexico, North Carolina, South Carolina, Tennessee and Texas.
