IRMO — A Midlands location of a national frozen custard and burger chain has recently closed.
The Freddy’s branch at 10611 Broad River Road in Irmo is listed as “Permanently Closed” on Google, and the location is no longer on the chain’s list of South Carolina locations.
The location’s Yelp page also claims users have reported the location as closed. The webpage for the Irmo location has been removed and its phone number is disconnected.
According to the website ScrapeHero, Freddy’s had 515 locations in 37 states and territories as of 2024. Locations in Columbia, Lexington and West Columbia remain open.
The restaurant is known for its steakburgers — including the Prime Rib Steakburger and Original Bacon and Cheese Double — and its frozen custard options, in addition to a variety of “Savory Sides,” hot dogs, chicken fingers and chicken sandwiches.
The Irmo location sits along a busy stretch, with the state Department of Transportation estimating a daily average of 21,400 vehicles traveling along Broad River near the restaurant. Nearby businesses include a Tractor Supply and a variety of restaurants — San Jose, McDonald’s, Arby’s and Chick-fil-A all have locations there.
