RALEIGH, N.C. (WNCN) – The National Weather Service in Raleigh issued a flood advisory for parts of central North Carolina on Wednesday morning.
The advisory impacts several local areas, including Harnett, Lee and Moore counties. It’s set to last until 11:30 a.m.
A Flash Flood Warning has also been issued in counties throughout a portion of central NC. That is in effect until noon Wednesday.

NWS officials warn people to expect minor flooding in low-lying and poor drainage areas, while ponding of water in urban or other areas is either already occurring or is imminent.
“Doppler radar and automated rain gauges indicated heavy rain due to thunderstorms,” the National Weather Service wrote during its advisory on Wednesday morning. “Minor flooding is ongoing or expected to begin shortly in the advisory area.”
Between one and two inches of rain have already fallen, and another one to two inches are expected throughout the affected area.
“Turn around, don`t drown when encountering flooded roads,” NWS officials said. “Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.”
