SIOUX FALLS, S.D. (KELO) — Halloween is creeping up quick, and many people are thinking about what this year’s perfect costume will be to help celebrate the occasion. In this morning’s Flashback Friday, Keloland’s Mark Ferree takes us back to 1987 to see how kids and adults alike got creative with their spooky, silly, and sometimes downright unusual outfits.
Some folks just have a devil of a time coming up with a different Halloween costume every year.
Most young people like these three and four-year-olds at the children’s center daycare facility in Sioux Falls seem to come up with a good variety of creative outfits.
As their teachers can sometimes find that coming up with an interesting costume can be a real witch.
“This is the first time I’ve done this since I was a little kid, so I just decided that a witch’s costume would probably be the easiest to put together.”
A helpful hint for choosing an appropriate costume is to find one that well, sort of reflects your own personality.
But finding that perfect outfit still haunts many people when Halloween time creeps around.
Problem is, everyone wants to be unique.
“I guess the one thing is you just try to do is pick something different, not you know something common, watching cartoons always helps.”
As scary as Halloween is supposed to be about the biggest nightmare of the occasion is choosing a costume that’s just not right for you, because you could really find yourself alienated from your friends.
“One year I tried to be an alien, but I mean it’s like I had this outer body experience and I almost became an alien.”
So you see, it’s important to make the right choice.
In the end, the best way to do it is to try a few costumes on for size.
When all else fails, you might find your best bet is just to go for something that makes a donkey out of yourself.
