Felicia and Ben Horowitz give $150 million to Nevada’s first standalone children’s hospital | Building Las Vegas | Business

Felicia and Ben Horowitz are donating $150 million to help build Nevada’s first standalone children’s hospital, which will be named the Intermountain Health Felicia and Ben Horowitz Children’s Hospital.

Intermountain Health announced the gift Friday, saying it is one of the largest publicly announced gifts ever made to a children’s hospital in the United States.

The Horowitzes are longtime Las Vegas residents. Ben Horowitz is the co-founder of venture capital firm Andreessen Horowitz. Felicia Horowitz is the chief executive officer of the Horowitz Family Foundation and is the founder and president of The Paid in Full Foundation, a nonprofit that supports hip-hop artists.

Prior to the gift from the Horowitzes, other Las Vegans have announced massive donations toward the construction of the hospital, which is anticipated to break ground at the end of October.

MGM Resorts International President and CEO Bill Hornbuckle and his wife, Wendy, were named last year as co-chairs of the Nevada Campaign for Kids, a philanthropic push to support construction of the children’s hospital.

In early October, Las Vegas-based homebuilder Larry Canarelli and his wife Heidi announced a $50 million gift to the children’s hospital. With the commitment, a tower at the Intermountain Health hospital will be named in their honor.

In August, the Raiders made the largest donation in team history, gifting Intermountain Health $25 million toward the construction of the children’s hospital. The contribution is made up of $10 million from the Raiders and $5 million each from team owners Mark Davis, Egon Durban and Michael Meldman.

In October 2024, the site was unveiled for the children’s hospital, which will be built on around 34 acres at the 122-acre UNLV’s Harry Reid Research and Technology Park in the southwest valley. The hospital will open with around 200 beds, around 2,000 to 3,000 caregivers and cost over $1 billion.

This is a developing story. Check back for updates.
